Cycling

During the quarantine, all physical activities including gym were closed and it was important for me to do some activity that I enjoy and keeps me fit. As a physical activity I decided to do cycling around town for at least a one hour every thrice a week with the goal of maintaining the fitness level and increasing stamina.

LO 1-Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I knew that I had not been cycling for a while and that the grip with my cycle had gone so I started slow with about 15 mins of cycling everyday to 1 hour everyday. This helped me better control my cycle and helped my body adjust to the sudden change in activity as the initial months into lockdown was were I had not done many physical activities. However, I lacked stamina and used to get tired very early and so i devised a plan to mark an increase of 500 metres everyday so that there is a goal established. This increased my motivation.

LO 2-Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

The biggest challenge was the initial days of cycling after a lazy start to quarantine life as my body could not take it and I used to ask my friends to accompany me for more motivation which helped me in achieving my goal of increasing stamina. Cycling everyday increased my balance and hand to eye coordination as cycling on the road requires attention to incoming cars and so it helped me develop skills.

LO 4-Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

To achieve my goal, consistency was necessary as I had many chances were i could give up but to achieve the goal I had taken many counter measures such as calling friends, then asking mother to make some junk food( I know I should not have it but it gives me motivation) so that I would not quit which helped me eventually and I started to get a hang of it and finally did it.
