FSCUP – Organizing Committee

Me and My Grade 12 friends collaborated with the school Physical Education teachers and a bunch of Primary Years Program(PYP) kids and held an FS(Fountainhead School) Cup which consisted of different sports and activities including, Gymnastics, Football, Basketball, Handball, etc. The Grade 12 students were working in all kinds of compartments including, Transport, certificates, coupons and a lot more.

LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

  • My Strength was that I was really capable of helping people with anything and everything that they need. During these Saturdays, I was really helpful and determined to serve the school at the time of the FSCUP. However, because all of my Saturdays and Sundays I had to wake up at 5:30 it was really hard for me, my weakness is that I sometimes don’t manage time well. Which I did overcome by reaching the school on time and completing the task that was given to me on time and sometimes even before time.

LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

  • When we reached there, The Grade 12 leaders were sent to every single component of the work, so some of them were assigned the TT room some were given the court and some the football ground. Moreover, we divided the work in ourselves so that more work could be completed in a lesser time and then we could all rest. I personally really enjoyed working with the school PE teachers and the PYP students and learnt new leadership skills. Moreover, I really felt that the plan we made worked but we could have been more comprehensive stating the tasks which would not result in any hurry at the end.

LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

  • The collaboration proved out to be really very helpful in all aspects of the work in the FSCUP. Firstly, the school was really very large all the work was done in every corner of the school and the competitions weren’t just happening in the school they were also taking place in the KG Farm. If there wasn’t a team to handle all the places and there would have been just me it would have been stressful. Having a team really helped me learn how to work collaboratively and also made my work really very easy.

LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

  • As mentioned in the introduction, this competition took place on Saturdays and Sundays and I would have easily not come to the school for these tournaments because there were a lot of people, but because I was so determined and I committed myself to this, I did not miss any of the sessions or competition dates. I attended all the sessions including the meetings and completed all of my work on time.

This has been a great learning experience for me I have had a great exposure to the real life working environment and the learner profiles that I used here were Thinker, Inquirer and Courageous.
