Farewell

As part of a school event every year, grade 11 has to organize farewell events for level 12. This year, our responsibility was to host such an event as I didn’t know many people in class 12. However, I still became inclined to participate on this occasion. We were given many options to work on, and as I was always a creative person and loved doing arts and crafts, I was part of the decorating team. We had to use eco-friendly material and decorate the entire room where the event was going to happen.

Learning outcomes achieved:

LO 1 Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth.

Arts and crafts were always something I loved doing when I was in my primary grades. Still, they never thought I would get an opportunity to do it even in my high school year, and while doing it, I felt I am always so good at it and enjoyed it a lot.

LO 2 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the Process.

And

LO 4   Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.

The most challenging task I faced during this event was waking up early in the morning and coming school 1 hour first from regular timings. It was difficult for me as I already had my gym sessions, so I had to wake up early to attend early-in school for decor preparation. And for the same reason, I sometimes had to bunk my gym sessions. This shows I was committed to my work. And this commitment was essential to me because our team leaders appointed us for work, and we had to do it, and there was no option of backing out.

LO 5 Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

As we worked cooperatively, it made the occasion very successful for our seniors. And I was always a person who could work with anyone, so it was not difficult for me, but at the time, there was a clash of opinions, but at the same time, we managed it.

LO 7 Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

As I was part of the decor team we had to use a lot of resources and materials to make the decorations. but we made sure that we don’t use materials that are not sustainable like thermals, sellotape, etc. We knew how to select sustainably and just the right materials. also knew about how much use and discarding of such materials could damage the environment, hence we knew and considered that to what extent our choices were ethical.

Taking farewell as my CAS experience was great. This was a positive experience for me in developing skills like Balanced, communicators, and Thinkers.
