Farewell Decoration

I was a member of the decoration group for the farewell of the 2020 batch at our school, held on the 21st of February. Through this event, I wanted to adapt my creativity skills to different situations. I had shown creativity in various Interests that I had and wanted to show my skills in another situation.

Learning Outcomes Achieved:

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

My creativity skills were one of the biggest strengths I had developed. My creativity skills and the use of creativity in different situations meant that I could give valuable input to my group members and the leaders of the event.

LO3 : Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

For the farewell event, considerable planning was done to ensure that the event remains successful. Planning initiated from the beginning of the month to ensure that the decoration of the event was the best fitted as per the theme “Nostalgia”. Planning was done to ensure that all the important aspects props were made well in advance to ensure a smoother functioning throughout.

LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

All the planning slots were conducted in the early school hours which was very demanding in the begining. However, I knew that the presence of everyone was important to ensure that no work was left pending at the end of the day. Therefore, I attended all the sessions in the morning and ensured that the work assigned to me was completed.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Our group of decoration has highest members which mean that there were varied opinions of everyone. But it also meant that we all, if would work collaboratively, could take benefit of each and everyone’s Ideas to ensure the best possible results. Decorating the entire venue would also be very difficult and very time consuming for a smaller number of students than it would have had been for all of us.

LO6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

For the decoration, we had mostly reused and recycled materials which included newspapers and waste glass bottles. This had ensured that the event was completed within the approved budget and the costs were minimal. It also ensured that waste after the event was minimal and could be reused because most of the materials and props that were created were only one-time use. Waste management is a big issue because it significantly harms the environment in the long run
