Hi! I’m Ananya Jain, a 17-year-old student from Fountainhead School, Surat. I am an avid reader and I enjoy art and cooking. I like to think that I’m very good at public speaking and debate! I would love to improve my artistic skills, especially woodcut – which is a recent medium I’ve come to enjoy. I hope to bring more discussion of the cultural and political significance of art and literature. In the future, I hope to use economics and law to empower the margins in India. I’m extremely passionate about this – I wish to pursue action research, where I will get the chance to uplift the communities I will research. One area I’d like to learn more of web development and coding – I think its extremely interesting! I’ve also been enjoying political philosophy lately, although I’m convinced I will never understand Kant. Another dream of mine is to learn surfing! I had the pleasure of being able to do it once on a holiday but I would love to learn it properly – it seems like coolest thing!
One skill I would love to achieve but am completely lacking is music. I did try to learn the ukulele and I think I have made some progress but I think there is a long way to go for me to become good at it! I’d also like to play more football – a sport that I truly love when I’m given the chance!
Now that we’re going through the pandemic, my life philosophy has become that we must appreciate what we have when we have it! I can’t wait for this to end and for me to be with my friends and enjoy smaller moments we may have taken for granted earlier.
