I volunteered in the school community service in which I taught students from other underprivileged schools the sport football. These sessions took place in our school for about a month and a half. The students were aged between 10 years – 17 years. This activity helped me achieve LO-1, LO- 2, LO- 4, LO-6.
LO1- Identify own strengths and develop areas of growth
My strength was as I was good at football and I am playing this sport since the beginning which helped me a lot. It is good to first identify the strengths and weaknesses so that the planning becomes easy.
LO2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
As it was my first time being a coach it was hard to manage them, also as the students were from government school their native language was Gujarati and nither I nor any of my classmates knew how to talk in Gujrati so it was a challenge for us.
LO4- Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.
The sessions lasted 3 consecutive Saturdays and Sundays so attending every session was difficult for me, also It was on weekends so it needs a lot of dedication as it was our only holiday for that month. As I wanted to give back to the community this pushed me not to miss any sessions.
LO6-Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.
By coming to this session I got to know the problems faced by the underprivileged children like propper education. This experience helped me to share my knowledge with those children who are suffering from a lot of issues.
