Missing Girls (CAS Project)

As a collaborative work, — along with our CAS supervisor, Falguni Jariwala ma’am, Worked on a project called ‘Missing Girls’ where we went to different schools and grades to spread awareness about human trafficking in India.

LO1: . Increased awareness of my own strengths and areas for growth

This CAS project helped me improve my communication skills as talking to the students requires a great amount of those skills. Talking in different languages was not a task for me since we mostly had to converse in ‘gujarati’ and I already knew that language, so that was one awareness of my own strength that I had. My areas of growth is having a proper and prepared speech for the presentation since I either had to use a paper with points written in it or used to stutter on what to speak if I didn’t have any backup paper with me.

LO2:Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

To overcome my challenge, I used to do a mock presentation with my group a few days before the actual session was conducted so that I had an idea of what to speak and how to speak it. This was very helpful since in the next session, I was confident with my speech.

LO3:Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

we have been working on this project since over a month, where we first started out with playing a game made by the ‘missing girls’ organization which included of a story of a girl who was abducted and put into a human trafficking organization. This game helped us gain a lot of information of human trafficking that was surrounded by myths and stereotypes. We also planned several games, activities and presentations for students who were going to be a part of this session. Considering all the factors such as SDGs and LOAs of cas.

LO4:Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

All the deadlines for the presentation was met even due to other assignments and tasks in the way.

LO5:Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively

This project would not have been possible if it was not for team work. This project required multiple research and perspectives from different people, which was catered to in our group. Our group had 2 gujarati speakers and 2 non-gujarati speakers, it would have been difficult to communicate without there being a group.

LO6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

We conducted the session in an underprivileged government school because most human trafficking activities take place in areas where people are not too educated about all of this. For Eg. Villages, Slum areas etc. We believe that educating little kids in these schools will help them prevent any situations like these. We kept in mind the sustainable development goals too.

LO7:Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions

All of our presentations were made ethically.
