Global Odyssey

In this CAS experience, there was an event held in our school named Global Odyssey which I was a part of. There where 3 departments: food, fun, fashion. I was part of the food department where we had to sell a diverse variety of food and some of the revenue we generated was donated to an NGO named ‘Friends with tails’. this event was held on the 5th of February in our school itself. there are four LOs covered by me in this experience. These are:

LO 1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
I am good at interacting, serving and marketing so I was at the food stall selling food items. It wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be communicating with the customers and then with the accounts department was tough for us as we could not keep the track of the cash flow due to crowding of the customers. This gave me an understanding of how a business manages its different tasks.

LO 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
As this was my first event in which I along with my teammates was managing the operation task, it was challenging for me to complete the tasks given to me efficiently. In the process, I learned how important time management and working as a team is. As we had very little time to plan this event. During this event, I learned time management skill along with some other useful skills like team working and communicating skills.

LO 5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
It was very important for my team to work collaboratively for the effective working of the event. We had to communicate well with each other for a smooth transition of our team. it helped us make decisions faster and saved us an ample amount of time in various tasks. Working as a team also helped to generate different ideas for our event.

LO 6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance rather than keeping all the revenue generated for ourselves, we decided to donate the money to an NGO which helps for the betterment of stray dogs. This caters to a global issue that is life on the land which can be improved with our small initiative.

So overall my CAS experience was excellent. This also helped me learn new thing and develop new skills for my further growth. This event tested my academic learning and whether I could apply my learnings in real life or not.
