I love playing Basketball and I have been practicing basketball for the past 2 years. I work upon my fitness, my handling skills, and team coordination. Basketball is a team sport In which there are 2 teams most commonly of five players each and the aim of the team is to score as on the opposition’s basket. Playing basketball helps me to be fit and healthy.
I demonstrated LO1, LO2, LO4, LO5
LO1-Identify own strengths and develop areas for growthÂ
While practising I realised that I am good with the layups and this was my strength. But the problem was with my 3 pointers, as I was not able to convert them into the baskets. While practicing I started focusing on my 3 pointers more which helped me score more 3 pointers
LO2-Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.
There were many challenges that my team and I faced as we lost many competitions. The skill that I developed was handling the ball. In the starting it was very difficult for me to handle the ball but as time passed I started practising more, played a lot of matches because of which I was able to develop this skill
LO4-Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
I practise for 2 hours 3 times a week. I have been doing this for the past 8 months. It is hard for me to take out time as I need to take out time from my academics and other activities.
LO5-Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
As I mentioned earlier, basketball is a team sport and in every team sport team work is required. A player alone cannot do anything, he requires the help of a team. SO as a team my teammates and I used to practice together and used to focus on passing, making strategy, coordination of team. We also used to give feedback on each other’s performance and help each other by telling them the area of improvement.Â
ConclusionÂ
Basketball helped me to achieve learner profiles like being a risk taker, knowledgeable, thinker, being balanced. This learner profiles will help me at any point of my life
