Art has always been an important part of my life, be it in the form of music or paintings. For this particular activity, I focused on the latter–paintings, not just necessarily made from colours, but anything drawn from the deep crevices of my heart and mind. I’ve made countless sketches, portraits, landscapes, etc. but here I will only be mentioning those that have a significant role in my art life.
The first sketch that will stay with me forever is the sketch/portrait I made of Kim Taehyung. Taehyung is a talented artist himself, and to personify him onto paper successfully made me very proud of myself. There are many moments in life when I see somethings and someone who are just so beautiful that I have to transcribe them onto paper. Almost most of my art pieces are made in such a way–the need to remember them always makes me draw them.
The second one is an abstract piece I made based on a song called Shadow : Interlude. The song itself is so complex in depicting countless emotions, like a single thread in a cashmere sweater. The only I could have depicted the emotions I felt was by using my fingers and picking up whatever colour and mixing it up with the next, making a beautiful mess. I personally like to think that this painting is a perfect interpretation of my own feelings–complex and chaotic, but no less striking.
LO1 & LO2 : Although I am plenty familiar with pens and pencils, working with colours was new for me. I wanted to try something new, and as a self taught artist, it was hard at first, but soon I got the hang of it and voila! I could paint with acrylic colours now!
LO4 : Many times I felt like I wanted to give up, because art is truly plenty of work. But then I reminded myself of why I did it, and I felt stupid for even wanting to give up. So I showed commitment and perseverance by not losing sight of why I practised art, and to keep on doing it for a long time. Although many times I thought maybe I wouldn’t be able to complete this work, or give it justice, at the end I pulled through.
Through this activity, I learned a lot more about myself and my capabilities, and also worked hard to improve them. This also made me feel more connected to art, and helped art to become the essence of my life.
