Gym

With a total duration of 5 months and still running, I went to the gym to improve my fitness. In the initial stages I did not visit the gym very frequently due to a lack of motivation and willpower, so I would only visit there on the weekends, but slowly, as I found the importance of personal fitness and the advantages of going to the gym, I gathered some will power to finally go there more frequently. Going to the gym was extremely beneficial to me as it helped me feel fit and better and it also improved my sleep cycle, as I was too exhausted by the end of the day and would automatically fall asleep.

I demonstrated:

LO1 : Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I identified my weaknesses like how I needed to increase my upper body strength and stamina, as well as strengths like having greater power in the legs and back power. When I identified my strengths and weakness, I got a greater insight as to how I should prioritize my time in the gym for the body parts which needed more attention as per my needs.

LO2 : Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

One of the hardest parts of going to the gym, was waking up and going to the gym. I had to battle with my mind as to why going to the gym is important to me and why I had to wake up and drive all the way to the gym. I also faced a lot of challenges during the initial stages as my body was not adapted to that kind of hard work, but as the days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months, my body slowly started to adapt and improve.

LO3 : Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

It was crucial to create a growth-oriented mindset to create a strong willpower. Going to the gym also required me to organize myself, as to dress according to a gym to be able to be flexible and also carry all my essentials.

LO4 : Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Improvement in fitness levels and body is not very visible in a short time duration of 2-3 weeks, and therefore thinking that there is no effect on the body would be a huge demotivator. I had to be patient and had to be dedicated to going to the gym. Although it is not very easy for me to commit to things, with the help of my friend, I was able to make a gym routine.

I showcased the learner profile balanced, as I had to keep my studies and physical fitness balanced for a good well-being and to keep my body fit even when I grow old. I managed my time by waking up at 6 in the morning and going to the gym, and therefore I was also a risk-taker as I didn’t know if it would make me feel tired the entire day or not. I was reflective, as I assessed which body parts needed more training and therefore I tried my best to exercise my entire body. Going to the gym everyday made me feel more calm and stress-free and waking up early made me feel healthy. This brought a positive change in my routine and I would want to continue doing gym as long as I can in the future.
