Developing Singing Skills

In order to develop my singing skills, I had practiced riaz and songs with the help of my music sir Jasmin. I also did riaz every morning from 6:00 am to 6:30 am. I had learnt the various topics in the aesthetics of singing from my sir which helped me to gain confidence and apply aesthetics in my singing. Initially, I was able to sing fairly well but after hardwork and commitment of two months in riaz, I was able to apply few of the aesthetics of singing proficiently and few not. In this action, I had applied LOI 1 and LOI 4.

LOI 1 Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.

Before learning about the aesthetics of music, my strengths in singing were identifying sur and swar and understanding the lyrics of a song. I also had a greater knowledge about Indian romantic songs. At that time, pitch and modulation had been the crucial challenges for me in my singing.

After hardwork and commitment of two months in riaz, my singing had improved. I had learnt a lot of new things such as gamak, mean, bow, cut, long note, chromatic scale and chromatic notes. Out of those, I had mastered in mean, gamak, cut and long note. I had developed my skill of modulation a bit and the pitch had not improved very much so these are my personal growth. I had faced a challenge of chromatic scale and up till now it is the most challenging task for me in my singing.

LOI 4 Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Waking up early in the morning and doing riaz showed my honesty and dedication in the two months and this is still being continued. Even though sleeping late at night from studies, I still work into my weak areas in riaz so that I improve in my singing. This shows my commitment and perseverance in singing by learning new things in it.

Overall, developing singing skills was a very useful and energetic CAS experience for me.
