I participated in SYMUN x MeraMUN which was organised by my senior. the mun was held at the AURO University in Surat and took place for 3 days, from 23 August 2019 to 25 August 2019. I had never participated in a MUN before this one so I always wanted to go to a MUN. I took part in the Lok Sabha committee and played Kiran Rijiju.
There are some learning outcomes which I achieved throughout this experience and they are:
LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth – I am good at communicating with other people and good at research skills. So I thought to develop both of these skills and take part in a mun. As in MUN, one has to research the current affairs and debate with others and this would improve both of my skills.
LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience – In this MUN, I played Kiran Rijiju, so I had to research a lot about him and the current affairs. I am usually an organised person, so I organized myself by making notes of every single detail of what I could say during the debate. I initiated for this experience as I wanted to have and learn a new experience as I had never participated in a MUN before.
LO 5:Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively – In the Lok Sabha committee there were mainly two groups one group was the ruling party and the other was the opposition. I was in the ruling party group so I had to work my fellow teammates and debate against the other group and to win the debate we had to work collaboratively with each other and share our research with other teammates.
During this experience, I even developed learner profile attributes which are Knowledgeable, Thinker and Communicator. This CAS experience benefitted me a lot as I got to learn a lot of things from working collaboratively with others. Overall the experience was success and I enjoyed it a lot.
