Monsoon Musing

Monsoon musing was an event that took place in our school. Monsoon Musings is a student-led Poetry Event that intends to give budding writers (students, staff, parents and grandparents) an opportunity to express their ideas – in the form of poems and tiny tales. This event was organised as part of an act of Service and hence the funds generated from this event were donated to charity. Students could also volunteer to serve food and be a part of Seva Cafe or help in the decorations for the event and be part of project aids. I took part in the Seva Cafe. We had to serve food to the event participant and they can donate as much as they wished. I even helped in some decoration part of the event. This event was held on 21st of September 2019 and is part of the service strand of CAS.

LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth – I took part in the Seva Cafe as I am good at cooking and it is one of my strengths. I didn’t take part in the project aid as I am not so good at decorating and crafting stuffs It is my weakness. So it is important for one to know its strengths and weakness so one could make wise decisions.

LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively – In Seva Cafe, we were divided in a group of 5 so we had to work collaboratively with each other in order to work effectively. So we divided our tasks and completed them individually. There were some difficulties that were faced by our group as each member of the group had different choices of what we should serve but in the end, we agreed upon a common choice.

LO 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions – We conducted this event for charity and it would not be ethical to charge for the food that we provide to the participant that took part in the event. So we decided to not charge for the food and let the customers decided what they would prefer to pay for the food.

This event was a huge success and I got to learn many things from this experience. Learner profile I developed would be communicator as we had to communicate with the teammates effectively and decide what we were going to serve for the event. This also benefited others as due to this event many more people in the future would be encouraged to take part in such events.
