My friends and I decided to start a home bakery named Cascakes as our CAS project. Baking is something that I have always loved and I always wanted to learn new things. This project gave me the opportunity to learn new things. We as a group decided to start this project.

LO1-Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth.

I already knew a bit about baking which was my strength and it helped me to teach some of my partners by baking skills which helped us as a group. Also, I already knew about the basics of baking which helped me at the start.

LO2-Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

There were a few challenges that I faced. One of them was with the decorating part which one of my friends taught me and I worked upon. The other was to decide the name and the menu as everyone wanted different menus and names but then we voted out and selected the one with the most votes. Also due to COVID-19, we were not able to meet because of which it was very difficult for us to communicate and finalize things also it was very difficult for us to make final recipes that we are going to use for the enterprise as it was a baking business 

LO3-Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Opening an enterprise like these needs a lot of planning to make the business successful. It would be difficult for us if we wouldn’t have planned our project, but planning our project helped us a lot in being successful. Firstly we planned the name and the menu then we focused on our marketing strategies and at the end, we focused on the competition as in-home baking industry there’s a lot of competition then we made a plan according to and decided the prices, places to advertise and final products. Making a plan helped us a lot.

LO5-Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Handling a business is not an easy task. Hence, we needed to act maturely. We were open to everyone’s suggestions and selected the best. Helping in the team helped us in a lot of ways as we built trust, friendship and also learned a lot of how important it is to work as a team. Hence, overall we did a pretty great job of working together.

LO6-Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.

So we as a group decided to donate the profit that we made to people during COVID-19 to provide them with food, water, mask and sanitizers. We deal with issues such as good health, well-being, water and sanitation. We were really happy to help people with it.

Conclusion 

It was a great experience for us as we were able to open an enterprise at such a young age and it will help us in the future as now we know how hard it is to run a business. I also learned some of the learner profiles such as leadership, being balanced, team coordination skill and for being a risk-taker.
