cooking in Lockdown

This lockdown gave me many opportunities to explore my hobbies, and one of them was cooking. Specifically, I am a sweet tooth, and I always loved to bake but never got a chance as everything was available in bakery and shops. Still, In the lockdown,  all of the shops were closed. Hence I took the initiative to learn it and bake on my own I tried many dishes like I made Waffles, Donuts, Pancakes, Cheesecake, Cupcakes, Mug-Cake, Mango-Cake, Red velvet shake, and Truffles.

Learning outcomes achieved:

LO 1 Identify own strengths and develop areas or growth.

I was always a helping hand for my mom in the kitchen, so I had a piece of excellent knowledge about ingredients. Knowing that I saw youtube videos and took the initiative of baking new recipes, I think it is essential to know your strengths. That is what gives them the confidence to cook for everyone in large quantities.

LO 2 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the Process.

The most critical and challenging part for me was the right measurements as watching youtube video recipes. It was challenging to take the right measure of the ingredients. After all, I always had to cook in large quantity, because I live in a joint family and have to make for everyone and the videos they had different measurements because of less amount so while cooking, I always use to assume measures or ask mom and make sure it turns out yummy.

L0 3 Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.

Organizing myself was not a problem as I loved cooking and managed everything. But when it comes to baking, it is difficult to set the timer and temperature. Sometimes, I had to re-bake it and make the entire batter again, but in the end, I gained my confidence and learned how to bake properly.

The learner profiles developed are Reflective, Balanced, Principled, and Risk Taker.
