Table Tennis

This experience is part of the activity strand in CAS as there is a lot of physical aspects involved in this experience. I played table tennis on the school premises and this was a long term activity. I learned new techniques and skills in this sport and this also improved my physical health. I conducted this experience from October 2019 to October 2020. The activity helped me a lot in developing my table tennis skills. My sir who is also the supervisor for this experience taught me some new skill and techniques to improve my game in this sport. Below are some LOs I covered during this experience:

LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process – This experience was challenging as I had to learn a new sport. I had played table tennis before but was not that keen into it until I started learning it. I started developing interest as I continued playing table tennis.

LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences – I previously played table tennis but took a long break from it so my knowledge and techniques about the game had become worn. Table tennis is a sport which one has to practice regularly in order to become a good player. So I played table tennis for one and a half hour, every 2 days a week. I played table tennis in my school and I never missed a class and was committed toward learning table tennis.

LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively – Working as a team is important to become a good player in table tennis. Table tennis can be played as a solo or in a pair with a teammate. So when played as a duo it was important that we played collaboratively and make sure we had good communication between us, so we can both improve our skills at the sport.

I developed learner profiles characteristics like communicator and reflective. It was important for me to communicate effectively with my teammate when playing table tennis. The sport also requires you to understand the opponent strategies and reflect upon your mistakes and improve them in the next round. I think by the end of the experience I was able to learn a lot about the sport. I had a great experience while conducting this activity and got to learn a lot form this CAS experience.
