I and my 13 classmates went on a Sunday morning to clean the most polluted beach, Dumas. Surties visit Dumas Beach a lot and they don’t seem to care about the litter because they throw litter everywhere except the dustbin, This leads to damage of landscape and ecosystem too.

LO2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

Cleaning the beach was a challenging task as it is a huge beach and we need to sort both wet and dry waste in different sacks and need to carry along with us also the garbage was in really tough places to reach, between the rocks and in the sand so collecting it was difficult also as we had less time we need to work fast and in the most efficient way possible.

LO5- Demonstrate the skills and benefits of working collaboratively

As weren’t the only group picking up the garbage on the beach there were students from 2 other schools also. As we were a lot of people we divided out tasks by 2 more groups for wet and dry waste respectively this saved us a lot of time as it was already scared. Working in a group also helped in collecting the garbage from hard to reach areas which allowed us to clean the beach with utmost perfection.

LO6- Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.

As we all know how polluting is affecting us in a bad way and sill people don’t seem to care as they don’t throw their litter everywhere except the dustbin which leads to global warming which will at the end affecting us only. So after discussing it with my friend we came to a conclusion to clean the dumas beach by this, we will be able to give back to nature the most we can give.

LO7- Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

We took permission to clean the beach from the nature club and the permission to dump the waste properly and safely. Also, we talked to the food vendors and made them understand the significance of proper waste management, by properly disposing waste and keeping specific dust bins for wet and dry waste.

To conclude, I think we did our part in helping the environment by removing the garbage but in order to make it safer, we need to be regular and influence more people in order to save the planet.
