This CAS reflection includes the “Creativity†and “Service†strands. Fountainhead School Model United Nations 6.0 (FSMUN) was held at our school. The 2-day event was held in August. FSMUN had 5 committees including an Indian parliament type – “Lok Sabha†committee and other regular United Nations type committees where global and local issues were discussed. I was a part of the organizing committee for the decor and logistics section. My role was to set up venues and decorate them according to the purpose they will be used for and on the day of the event, I was responsible for the logistics between committees and inside committees. The profits of the event were donated to an NGO and I had worked with no monetary motive. Â
LO1- I have always enjoyed being a part of the decor team for any event. I came up with ideas for decor according to the event and ways of presenting the same. I also helped to set the various venues for the event. My weakness is sketching for cutouts and posters. I had tried to do large shaped sketches which required less artistic input.
LO2- Challenges for this event were comparatively less in number. The major challenge faced was to conduct two different sessions with different purposes and hence different decor set up. We had to change the set up in a span of 4 to 5 hours and also look at the logistics part at the same time as it was to be done on the day of the event. Another challenge faced was doing the logistics work properly and as efficiently as possible due to shortage and absence of some volunteers.Â
LO4- We had to come early to school for 2 weeks and work extra for 1.5 hours in the morning. We had also missed some classes to set up the venue as well as stayed back at school to complete the work a day before the event. Both the days of the event were very hectic too.Â
LO5- It was indeed a group task and one can’t do all of this single handedly. Distributing work according to the skills of all the volunteers helped in working efficiently and complete the work as fast as possible.Â
LO7- For the decor, we had used Eco-friendly materials only. Use of thermocol and plastic foam sheets was restricted. We also reused papers in some cases. Â
