Garba Fest

Garba Fest (Shubh Avsar) was an event organized by my peers as part of their CAS activity. I participated in the decor team as well as was a part of the flash mob they did during the event. It was an really new experience for me as during my earlier years, I was never very good at arts. This experience gave me an opportunity to jump out of my comfort zone, learn new things and build my self-confidence. The flash mob gave me a chance to perform in front of audience and also give space for my efforts I gave in my dance classes a platform. The learning outcomes I could experience were LO1, LO2, LO4, LO5.

LO1: While opting for work, I thought of developing areas of growth and hence, I choose to be a part of the decor team. It was an amazing experience as I got an platform to improve many art skills. I also realised that I was not really bad at art, rather I was bad at painting and drawing. I could finely cut and paste things also, I realised that I had good color sense and placement ideas.

LO2: The most challenging task was to complete all the work in time. We did not have any slots given for preparation and hence, we had to come early or stay late to complete all the work for decoration and the choreographing of the flashmob. To overcome this challenge, we could have met outside school to complete our work as we had many last-minute issues regarding the completion of work.

LO4: A lot of perseverance was also required in this activity as this was an event organised by my friends and in order to support them I had to commit to do a lot extra. I had many tests coming up too, however, managing time and making deadlines and schedules helped me balance between all tasks.

LO5: I could work in a team properly because of two things – I have worked a lot in teams before and hence it has been a skill which has been developed since the age of 10. Also for decor, we required a lot of ideas which could only have been generated with a group pitching ideas.

To conclude, I have developed various LP’s such as open-minded as I had to listen to everyone’s idea and acknowledge them, risk-taker as dancing in front of 150-200 people requires courage and guts and communicator as all work could be done because of communication only.
