Cooking in Lock down

I wasn’t really interested in cooking at all, but during this situation when we had a lot of time to spare so, I started to cook. I took the help of my mother as she knows the best.

LO1- Identify their own strengths and develop areas for growth.

Usually, I don’t measure anything before adding it to the dish but as it was my first time cooking with my mom I had to be really careful in not wasting any item and not adding anything in the dish unnecessarily or I will not able to cook in the rest of the quarantine. I also found out that I had a great sense of smell as I will get to know instantly that if there is an excess of something in the tea or something is missing. Also, I was terrible in chopping vegetables and I have to improve upon it.

LO2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken in developing new skills.

It requires a lot of time and patience in measuring each and everything before adding it to the dish so it took me quite some days in getting used to it. Also sometimes I use to get my hands cut due to chopping vegetables not in a correct manner, but slowly and gradually in some weeks, I improved. Also, while making masala chai I always use to forgot what to add next and what I have added previously and every time I use to ask my mom what to do next and still, I am not very good at remembering and I and trying not to forget.

LO4-Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

I use to be in the kitchen almost every day and helping my mother in making every meal, and every day we tried to cook something new something better, I made pancakes, pizzas, pasta, cookies, and cakes and even roties.

LO5- Demonstrate the skills and benefits of working collaboratively

As previously my mother use to cook alone so she had to do a lot and she used to get tired real quick. Cooking with her not only made her life easier but also helped me in getting closer to her and made me more proactive as if I didn’t cook I would be only sleeping.
